Program news
We hope everyone is well. We want to take this time to share with you some eBay Developers Program updates from the recent quarter (July - September 2026).
eBay Connect conferences in US and China
For the first time since 2019, the eBay Developers Program had in-person eBay Connect conferences in San Jose and Shanghai! Both events were highly successful and enjoyed by all.
Connect San Jose
On July 21-22, developers, partners, and technology leaders from around the world gathered together for two days of learning, collaboration, and innovation.
Keynote presentations were given by eBay CEO Jamie Iannone, eBay Chief AI Officer Nitzan Mekel, Head of the eBay Developers Program Curt Collins, and other eBay VPs, and a Fireside Chat was led by eBay CTO Mazen Rawashdeh.
You can go to the eBay Connect 2026 page to download any slide decks presented during the conference.
Greater China Connect in Shanghai
The Greater China Connect 2026 in September brought together over 300 developers and sellers from across China. The event focused on similar topics as Connect San Jose 2026.
VP of Greater China John Lin and Curt Collins represented eBay leadership at the conference. Many in the audience were non-English speakers, and we showed real-time AI language translations on the side screens while a speaker was presenting (from English to Chinese or vice-versa). This approach worked well and was well received by the audience.
Developer Portal Revamp launched
The Developer Portal Revamp was launched in August. This portal redesign was an important milestone in modernizing the eBay developer experience. The improvements that came with this revamp include the following:
- Improved navigation
- Context-driven organization (seller and buyer-facing flows)
- Streamlining reference docs and guides for legacy, REST, and GraphQL APIs into one cohesive experience
- Less clicks to get to the information that you need
- Improved look and feel to both API Explorer and GraphQL Explorer tools
New Sell and Buy call limit pages
New Sell API Call Limits and Buy API Call Limits pages were integrated into the new reference docs experience. Now users can now easily check call limits for different APIs without leaving the integrated reference docs page.
New eBay Partner Program
The eBay Loyalty Program is now called the eBay Partner Program. Go see the new eBay Partner Program page for more details, including details on the Gold, Silver, and Bronze tiers, and which benefits come with each tier. This page also talks about the requirements of the program, and how to apply to the program.
Supporting Commercial Guarantee of Durability labels
As of September 27, 2026, the EU Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition Directive (ECGT) requires business sellers to be able to declare a Commercial Guarantee of Durability (GARAN) label on eligible product listings. To support this requirement, eBay has added a new optional item aspect called Durability Guarantee.
In order for the GARAN label to appear on the listing, this aspect plus Brand and Model aspects must be provided. The Durability Guarantee aspect accepts whole integers from 3 to 99 as its corresponding aspect value, with the integer value representing the durability guarantee period in years.
Note that item aspects are localized to the default language of the marketplace, so below is the localized versions of Durability Guarantee on eBay marketplaces where the default language is not English
- Germany/Austria/Switzerland: Haltbarkeitsgarantie
- France/Belgium (French)/Canada (French): Garantie de durabilité
- Italy: Garanzia di durabilità
- Netherlands/Belgium (Dutch): Duurzaamheidsgarantie
- Spain: Garantía de durabilidad
- Poland: Gwarancja trwałości
A new Commercial Guarantee of Durability blog has also been recently published. See this blog for more information, including examples of how this new Durability Guarantee aspect is set through the Inventory API and Trading API.
API updates
The following updates have been made to our APIs this quarter.
New GraphQL App Insights API
A new GraphQL App Insights API is available to help developers monitor API usage and bulk data transfer policy thresholds. It contains the following three queries:
- applicationApiRateLimits: This query returns rate limit usage for the application identified by the OAuth token. A user can retrieve usage stats for all SOA, REST, and GQL operations, or they can use filters to target specific operations.
- userApiRateLimits: This query returns rate limit usage for the eBay user identified by the OAuth token. A user can retrieve usage stats for all SOA, REST, and GQL operations, or they can use filters to target specific operations.
- bulkDataTransferThresholds: This query returns bulk data transfer threshold metrics for the calling context. Third-party developers can use this information to monitor current usage against policy thresholds and identify the APIs contributing to that usage.
Promoted Listing updates in Sell Marketing API
The upsertVideoAdsPreferences and bulkUpsertVideoAdsPreferences methods were added to the Sell Marketing API. These methods are simply used to enable or disable video-based ads for eBay listings that are a part of a Priority Strategy Promoted Listings campaign.
A video must be attached to the listings in order for video ads to be run for those listings. The cost-per-click rate is the same for video ads. Video can be added to listings using the createVideo and uploadVideo methods of the Media API, and the getVideo method is used to get the status of that video. The status field of the getVideo response should have a value of LIVE when the video is available for use in the listing and in promoted listing ads. See the Adding video to your advertising campaign help topic for more information about video ads.
In addition to the new video ads preference methods, numerous metrics were added to Promoted Listing reports, including metrics on video ads. For the full list of new metrics, see the Sell Marketing API 1.24.0 Release Notes.
Order API v1 updates
The Order API v1 now supports the United States to Hong Kong (EBAY_US to EBAY_HK) CBT (Cross Border Trade) flow.
Additionally, the following two error codes related to an invalid or missing credit card information tied to the buyer’s account were added to the placeOrder method:
- 15057: The buyer's credit card information is missing. Please ensure that the buyer has a valid credit card linked to their eBay account.
- 15058: There is a problem with the credit card and it cannot be used to purchase items. Please ensure that the buyer has a valid credit card linked to their eBay account.
Custom Fashion size aspect values no longer supported
eBay has discontinued the support of custom, non-standard size values across all eBay marketplaces for Apparel and Footwear fashion categories. If a user attempts to create or revise a listing with a custom Size item specific value, the listing will be blocked, and that user will instead have to use the corresponding, standard size aspect value for that leaf category. The following blocking errors have been added to the APIs:
- Inventory API (Error code 25129): The product aspects for this category no longer support custom values for {productAspectName}. Your listing was not published. Update your request to use our standard values for {productAspectName}. Use getItemAspectsForCategory for your marketplace and leaf category to get the standard values for {productAspectName}.
- Trading API (Error code 21920468): replaceable_value is not a valid value for Size. Select a value from the available options.
To retrieve standard Size aspect values for Apparel and Footwear leaf categories, the getItemAspectsForCategory or fetchItemAspects (plus Taxonomy SDK) of the Taxonomy API can be used.
New notification topics added to Notification API
The following notification topics were added to the Notification API:
- BULK_DATA_TRANSFER_THRESHOLD: Subscribing to this topic triggers automated notifications to developers whenever a user's bulk data transfer metric reaches or exceeds the limits set by eBay's Bulk Data Transfer Policy.
- WATCHLIST_REVISION: Subscribing to this topic initiates notifications being sent to notify subscribers when a user adds an item to or removes an item from their Watchlist.
- REGULATORY_GUIDELINE: Subscribing to this topic triggers automated notifications to developers when eBay publishes a new or updated regulatory guideline that requires seller attention or action.
See the Subscribing to and retrieving eBay notifications use case of the Sell Communication Guide for full details on integrating with the Notification API and subscribing to topics.
To read more about the three new notification topics and to see their payloads, go to the Notification Topics page. That page has a search box, where you can input the name of the topic you are looking for, and you will be taken to the documentation for that topic.
Easy and Free Returns now live on eBay DE
The Easy and Free Returns program has now rolled out to the eBay Germany marketplace. With this policy, applicable Parts & Accessories listings must offer free returns to buyers with a return period of 30 or 60 days.
To help offset costs for buyer remorse returns, eBay will be offering sellers a 50% subsidy on return postage labels purchased on eBay. Please note that this subsidy on return postage labels do not apply to returns that fall outside of Easy and Free returns, such as Item not as described returns.
If non-compliant return policies are used with Add or Revise APIs, a blocking error will occur, and partners/sellers will need to make the return policy compliant before attempting the Add or Revise call again.
See the Support for easy returns in Parts and Accessories integration guide topic for more information on the eBay Germany product requirements and the exclude categories on that marketplace. There is also information on that page on how to create compliant return policies through the Trading API or through the Fulfillment Policy object of the Account v1 API.
VeRO API v2 replaces VeRO API v1
The VeRO API v2 was released, and this version replaces VeRO API v1, which has been decommissioned. Only subtle changes were made to the v2 version, with the reportVeroViolations method replacing the createVeroReport method.
Note: The VeRO API v2 is only available to members of the Verified Rights Owner (VeRO) program.
eDelivery International Shipping API updates
Consumer Product Safety Committee (CPSC) profiles can now be associated to sellers’ eDIS accounts in the eDelivery International Shipping API. In the createPackage method, a seller’s CPSC profile can now be specified through the sku.cpscProfileId field and an CPSC exemption type can be passed in through the exemptionType field. The new getCpscProfiles method retrieves one or more CPSC profiles associated with the seller’s account.
