eBay Certified Engineer Requirements
 
eBay Certified Engineers are required to pass one exam. The exam measures the technical abilities and expertise in developing and maintaining tools that expedite eBay trading. Certified Engineers are required to pass only one of the following four versions of the Certified Engineer Exam:
 
  • Accessing the eBay API using XML API
  • Accessing the eBay API using SDK for Windows
  • Accessing the eBay API using SOAP API
  • Accessing the eBay API using SDK for Java
 
While there are no prerequisites to taking this exam, an eBay Certified Engineer should have a full understanding of the eBay API as well as items specifically related to their API or SDK product of choice prior to taking the exam. Each exam within the Certified Engineer track is supported by training courses offered through the eBay Developer Education Program or documentation accessible through the Developer Zone. Instructions:
 
  • Go to the Learning Management System
  • Log in or create a log in
  • Click "Catalog" in the left navigation bar
  • Under "eBay 70", select Exam BL_eCE Certified Engineer Exam
 
You must agree to the terms and conditions of the Individual Certification Agreement before completing the exam and becoming a Certified Engineer.

Choose any one of the following:

  • Accessing the eBay API using XML API $150
  • Accessing the eBay API using SDK for Windows $150
  • Accessing the eBay API using SOAP API $150
  • Accessing the eBay API using SDK for Java $150
 eBay 20 (Course 0001): Lifecycle of an eBay Listing (1 hour OLT) Free

eBay 30 (Course 0102): Design Consideration for an Application (50 minutes OLT)
 
Please note that the goal of the certification exam is to test the particular knowledge that certification supports. Thus, certification exams are based on recommended training courses, technical documentation, and experience using the eBay platform. eBay does not claim that by taking courses you are guaranteed to pass the certification examinations. However, the courses are an important component in certification preparation.
