New "Price Plus Shipping" Sort Options for Search Calls--Coming in September
Trading API: Two new sorting options for Search results, PricePlusShippingAsc and PricePlusShippingDesc, are currently in testing on the eBay site. If the tests are successful, the sorting options will be enabled in (GetSearchResults, GetCategoryListings and FindItemsAdvanced) by September 2007. This new feature will allow sorting items by the sum of the item cost and default shipping cost.
To prepare for this feature, eBay sellers are encouraged to include at least one valid ShippingServiceOption in listings. Items that do not specify shipping information using the ShippingServiceOption feature may sorted lower than expected in eBay search results. For more information, see the 521 Release Notes. |
Enhanced Shipping Information in GeteBayDetails
As of the 521 release, GeteBayDetails will begin returning additional details with each ShippingService when requesting ShippingServiceDetails. Additional details returned include the supported service types, supported package types, and whether dimensions are required for the shipping service. For more information regarding this feature, see the GeteBayDetails documentation and the 521 release notes. |
Item Specifics Updates
These Item Specifics changes will be introduced in the next few weeks in Clothing, Shoes and Accessories. In August, the Other type-in Condition value will be removed. This is necessary for technical reasons but we also feel that subjective terms such as "Wonderful", "Gently Used" etc are better as part of item description. In most cases we will replace Other with a Used condition value and enable buyers using Product Finders to see only new or only used items if desired. Note that Used won't be added in underwear domains.

Widgets are Gaining Momentum: WidgetCon 2007
Our very own Rob Cross was in New York City on Wednesday to attend the WidgetCon Conference, the first conference designed specifically for widget marketers.
"One the main themes I heard was that widgets represent a unique opportunity for you to create an effective and lasting dialogue with your users. Users have offered to put your widgets on their page - don't waste that opportunity! Keep the content fresh, interesting and useful. For eBay developers, this is actually easier because most of our content is listings and you can always put new information in front of people." Read more > |
